Unmindful
A man was traveling on horseback to his destination. As he passed through a village, he came upon some villagers operating an Iranian Wheel on a well. The man led his horse to the well for the drink but the animal, unused to the cracking sound of the wheel shied away. The horseman asked the villagers to stop the noise. They stopped the wheel which resulted in the stoppage of water flow and Lo! The horse could not get water!
The horseman complained, “I asked you to stop the noise, not the water.” The villager replied, “Sir, if you want your horse to drink water, you have to persuade him to drink in spite of the noise.”
In one’s life the noise represents hardships, trial and adverse circumstances. If one desires to enjoy the water representing success and happiness, he has to bear with the worldly noise- handicaps and hindrances.
