The Ant
A man was watching a tiny ant carry a huge feather cross his courtyard. Several times it was confronted by obstacles in its path and after contemplated calculations it would make the necessary detours.
At one point the ant had to negotiate a crack in the concrete about 10mm wide. After brief contemplation the ant laid the feather over the crack, crawled across it, picked up the feather on the other side then continued unabashedly on its way. The man was fascinated by the ingenuity of this ant, one of God’s humblest creations! Here was a minute insect, teeny-weeny in size, yet equipped with a brain to reason, explore, discover and resolve the matter. Incidentally, like the two-legged co-inhabitants of this planet, this creature also shares human failings.
After some time the ant finally reached its destination – a flower bed at the end of the courtyard, besides which was the entrance to its underground home in a little hole. And it was here that the ant finally met its match. How could that large feather fit into a small hole?
So, the ant after all the trouble and exercising great ingenuity, overcoming problems all along the way, just had to abandon the feather and go home.
After all the sweat the poor creature gave for it, it could not have the feather for keeps! Life too is sometimes similar. Often we gather tinsel and trash as we walk the journey of life, little realizing that when it’s time to go our eternal home, we will have to leave everything behind, for the gates of heaven do not allow any baggage
