Proximity Of God!
Abou Ben Adhem of pershia became famous for his humanism. He used to render necessary service to the poor and sick people, to the best of his ability. But he was against reading Quran, prayer in masjid, Ramzaan fasting and such other religious rituals. He never thought of God.
The Mullah, the Muslim priest, used to come to Abu often and warn him that he was neglecting those practices.
One night Abu had a dream in which an angel was seen writing some thing in a book shining like gold. Abu asked him what he was writing in it. The angel replied that he was writing the names of those who loved God. Abu asked him whether his name was present in the list. The angel said no. Abu was reminded of the mullah’s warning. Yet he did not bother; and he continued on his way of life.
Abu had another dream in a night a few days later thereafter where in he saw the same angel writing again something in the shiny book. Abu asked the angel whether he was done with the list. The angel replied that he was this time writing the names of those people who were loved by God. Abu was curious to know whether his name was present in the list. Angel said, “Your Name is first in His list.”
