Kind Of Society

What is the kind of society we are today?
Dalai Lama describes it as follows:

“We have bigger houses and smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time
We have more degrees, but less commonsense;
More knowledge, but less judgement
More experts, but more problems;
More medicines, but less healthiness;
We’ve been all the way to moon and back,
But have trouble crossing the street to meet our new neighbour;
We’ve built more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever; but have less communications;
We’ve become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are times of fast food and slow digestion;
Tall men and short character;
Steep profits and shallow relationship;
It is time when there is much in the window and nothing in the store room.”
